The S alloys are the Sanicro family — a brand range of high-alloy austenitic stainless steels and nickel alloys originally developed by Sandvik Materials Technology and now carried by Alleima. The important point for anyone ordering is that the S numbers are brand designations, not UNS numbers, and several of them correspond to alloys you will already know by a different number. Alloy 41 here is UNS N08825, the alloy sold generically as 825. Alloy 60 is UNS N06625, which is 625 — not 600. Alloy 70 is UNS N06600, which is 600. Only Alloy 25 and Alloy 28 are chemistries unique to this family. The cross-reference below gives the real identity of each grade and links to the full datasheet page for it on this site.

These are brand designations and they are easy to misread. Alloy 60 is UNS N06625 — alloy 625, not alloy 600. Alloy 70 is UNS N06600 — alloy 600. Alloy 41 is UNS N08825 — alloy 825, and has nothing to do with the Rene 41 superalloy listed under R Alloys. Quoting or purchasing against the bare S number without checking the UNS is a genuine route to receiving the wrong material. Every row in the table below gives the controlling UNS number; use that on your enquiry and our technical team will confirm it back to you before anything is made.

Sanicro is a trademark of Alleima, the former Sandvik Materials Technology business. Exotic Alloy is an independent manufacturer and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Alleima or Sandvik; brand designations are used here solely to identify the alloy chemistry.
Every grade in this family is fully austenitic, and they all behave the same way under a tool: they work-harden readily and their thermal conductivity — 10 to 12 W/m·°C at room temperature — concentrates heat at the cutting edge rather than carrying it away into the work. Exotic Alloy machines them on rigid setups with sharp positive-rake carbide at moderate speed, heavy positive feeds and generous depth of cut, so the tool always engages metal beneath the layer hardened by the previous pass, with continuous flood coolant throughout. Cold-worked stock cuts more freely than solution-annealed material and is preferred for volume screw machining.
We are committed to delivering zero-defect S alloy fasteners and components. All products undergo rigorous testing including PMI (Positive Material Identification) against the controlling UNS number, corrosion testing where specified, dimensional inspection, and material traceability with EN 10204 3.1 certification.
Exotic Alloy exports S alloy fasteners and components to phosphoric and sulphuric acid producers, power generation, sour gas and chemical processing clients worldwide. Our dedicated logistics team ensures secure export packaging and timely deliveries by sea and air freight with full customs documentation support.
