Alloy 800 Fasteners
Nickel-Iron-Chromium Alloy – Heat & Corrosion Resistant to 1093°C

Incoloy 800 Fasteners

Buy Incoloy Alloy 800 (UNS N08800 / Werkstoff 1.4876 / ASTM B408) bolts, stud bolts, heavy hex nuts, socket cap screws, and custom CNC fasteners from Exotic Alloy. Incoloy 800 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy containing 30–35% Ni, 19–23% Cr and a minimum 39.5% Fe, with controlled aluminium and titanium additions that give it excellent resistance to oxidation, carburisation and general corrosion at elevated temperature.

Exotic Alloy manufactures Incoloy 800 fasteners conforming to ASTM B408, ASME SB-408 and DIN 17460 in metric M6–M100 and imperial ¼"–4" sizes with full EN 10204 3.1 material test certificates for heat treatment equipment, petrochemical furnaces, steam generators and chemical processing applications.

Key Specifications: ASTM B408 (Rod & Bar) / ASTM B409 (Plate & Sheet) / ASTM B407 (Tube) / ASTM B564 (Forgings) / ASTM B366 (Fittings) / DIN 17460

Machinability: Incoloy 800 machines more readily than the high-nickel Inconel grades because of its substantial iron content, but it still work-hardens and requires firm technique. Use rigid setups, sharp positive-rake carbide tooling at 30–50 SFM, heavy positive feeds and a generous depth of cut with continuous flood coolant. Thread rolling is preferred to thread cutting wherever the section size permits.

Welding: Incoloy 800 is readily welded by GTAW, GMAW and SMAW using INCONEL Filler Metal 82 (ERNiCr-3) or INCO-WELD A electrodes. Pre-heat is not required and post-weld heat treatment is not normally necessary. Keep heat input moderate and interpass temperature below 150°C to limit carbide precipitation in the heat-affected zone.

Forging: Hot forge between 1010–1205°C (1850–2200°F) with finishing above 900°C (1650°F). Heavy reductions should be taken in the upper part of that range. Cold forging and cold heading are practicable in smaller diameters with intermediate anneals to restore ductility.

Heat Treatment: Anneal at 980–1010°C (1800–1850°F) and cool in air or water. Incoloy 800 is not age-hardenable; strength above the annealed condition is obtained only by cold work. For service where creep strength above 600°C governs, specify Incoloy 800H or 800HT, which carry controlled carbon and a coarse grain size for that purpose.

Incoloy 800 resists oxidation, carburisation and nitriding in continuous service, and its high nickel content gives it freedom from chloride-induced stress-corrosion cracking, which is the principal weakness of the austenitic stainless steels it replaces. It resists oxidising and reducing atmospheres to approximately 1093°C (2000°F) and performs well in steam, nitric acid and organic acids. In aqueous service it offers useful general corrosion resistance but is not a substitute for Incoloy 825 or Alloy 20 where sulfuric or phosphoric acid resistance is required. Above roughly 600°C the creep-rupture strength of standard alloy 800 falls away, and Incoloy 800H or 800HT should be specified instead.

Key Characteristics

  • Excellent resistance to oxidation and carburisation to 1093°C (2000°F).
  • High nickel content gives freedom from chloride stress-corrosion cracking.
  • Stable austenitic structure — no embrittling phases on long exposure.
  • Good strength and ductility from cryogenic temperatures upward.
  • Readily welded and formed with no post-weld heat treatment required.

Typical Applications

  • Heat treatment plant: furnace retort, muffle and fixture bolting.
  • Petrochemical: process heater and pyrolysis furnace hardware.
  • Power generation: steam generator and superheater fastener assemblies.
  • Chemical processing: heat exchanger and pressure vessel bolting.
  • Nuclear industry: steam generator tube support and structural fasteners.
